Tori Gaines reports:
A woman has reported that the results of her test for sexually transmitted diseases were posted to Facebook after a worker at a California hospital gained access to her medical records, according to a complaint shared by her attorney.
There’s a lot to consider about this case. From the reporting, it appears that someone uploaded the files and allegedly created a Facebook page impersonating the patient with the intention of harming the patient and causing her emotional distress. When the patient discovered the page in February 2022 and tried to get it removed, it reportedly took Facebook one month to comply.
Contra Costa Regional Medical Center reportedly confirmed the breach. The individual suspected of having involvement in the wrongdoing was described as a contracted employee, and so the contract employment firm may also be involved in resolving the claims.
