Quest Diagnostics is notifying approximately 34,000 patients after their MyQuest patient was hacked and PHI was accessed and obtained.
Quest reports that they became aware of the breach on November 28, and that the patient data included name, date of birth, lab results, and, in some instances, telephone numbers. The affected information did not include Social Security numbers, credit card information, insurance or other financial information.
In a letter to those affected, Carl A. Landorno, Executive Director, writes that they are working with a leading cybersecurity firm, and have no evidence that any information has been misused in any way, “so we do not believe that you need to take any steps at this time to protect yourself in response to this breach.”
A copy of the full notification letter was uploaded to the California Attorney General’s web site today.
Now I guess I just wait to see if I get a notification from them, as I’ve used that portal.
