A memory stick containing confidential information on people with learning disabilities and with mental illness has been lost.
Although the memory stick was lost in August, the news has only been revealed today by the Department of Social Care.
It was lost by an employee of Praxis Care Isle of Man which ‘provides a range of services to individuals with learning disabilities and mental health conditions’ in the island.
The services are provided under contract to the DSC.
The information on the memory stick includes personal data on some individual service users, as well as staff at both Praxis Care and the DSC.
It has been established that 107 service users and staff in the Isle of Man are affected. The information ranges from basic details (such as name and address) in most cases through to more sensitive care records in a ‘minority’ of cases.
