I think I jinxed Vermont. I had just called them two days ago to inquire whether they really had had no breaches reported since February or if they were just behind in updating their web site. I was told that there had been no breaches to add to that site (although there are other state agencies that might have reports). Now today, there it is…. a newly reported breach.
On June 1, Cal Shilling, the VP of Human Resources for Vocus, Inc. (NASDAQ: VOCS) sent a letter to employees informing them that a box containing Human Resources data was “initially incorrectly delivered.”
Although the box was reportedly recovered with no evidence of tampering, the on-demand public relations software company has arranged with National ID Recovery (NIDR) to provide free services for the employees for one year.
And to the good folks at the Vermont Attorney General’s Office: my apologies if I jinxed things. 🙂
