WINK News discovers social security numbers printed in several local newspapers!…. The social security numbers were printed in the Estates Notices section of the newspaper.
It’s not required by law to have the numbers printed, but in one local newspaper alone, we found social security numbers to two people.
“Social security numbers should be protected,” said Holly Eash, Probate Court Supervisor.
Eash says the law doesn’t require the numbers to be included in these public records, but sometimes attorneys add them anyway.
