An identity theft case involving several clients of Independent Health was closed this week with a guilty plea and prison sentence, Amherst police said.
Henry O. Johnson III, 30, of Kensington Avenue, Buffalo, pleaded guilty to identity theft and was sentenced to 1x to 4 years in prison.
According to Detective Lt. JoAnn DiNoto, the investigation began more than a year ago after Independent Health’s special investigations unit discovered that several accounts had been compromised.
The case involved financial institutions as far away as Texas.
WIVB coverage indicates that Johnson had been an employee of Independent Health.
