Doctor Accused Of Dumping Personal Info

Posted on March 18, 2010 by Dissent

WFTV reports on a case in Florida where it is not yet clear whether patient information was exposed or not:

Lake Mary police say they found documents full of personal information in a dumpster outside a doctor’s office. Officers were looking for evidence in another case when they found the documents.

Police told Doctor Michael Branch he needed to get rid of it all. Eyewitness News found Branch rummaging through a dumpster when a news crew stopped by his ear, nose and throat office on Wednesday.

Branch claims it was all paperwork bearing only his name. He said there was no information concerning any of his patients.

The police will be investigating to confirm or deny whether any patient information was exposed. If anyone sees an update to this story, please let me know.
