The West Virginia agency charged with creating a digital exchange of health information is seeking public comment on new security and privacy policies before entering its 2011 pilot of the program.The West Virginia Health Information Network is the result of a public and private partnership created in 2006 to enable medical professionals to share patient data. The latest proposed policies, which cover multiple areas of privacy and security, are available for public review today to Jan. 3.
The policies are intended to guide the organization during implementation of its pilot program in 2011. According to a news release, changes to the policies are expected to be made as a result of findings from the pilot run.
