Stolen Speare Memorial laptop contained some non-patient data, too?

Posted on May 12, 2011 by Dissent

In addition to notifying approximately 6,000 patients about a stolen laptop, Speare Memorial Hospital apparently had some non-patients to notify, too.

By letter dated April 29 to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, Speare reports that it was notifying 54 New Hampshire residents that their names, and in some cases, National Provider Identifiers, NH Medical License Numbers, and DEA numbers were on the stolen laptop. In one instance, a Social Security number was also on the laptop.
