Mitch Mitchell reports:
Employees of the Lake Worth school district were notified Thursday of a potential computer security breach, Superintendent Janice Cooper said.
In a statement e-mailed to the Star-Telegram, Cooper said the district has no indication that a breach occurred, but has notified law enforcement officials and is investigating.
The concern has to do with a former employee, Cooper wrote. The employee had access to the district’s computer system, which may have included access to employees’ personal information, the statement said.

So they have a “concern” but no “indication?” Is this a premature notification where they might have been better off waiting and investigating a bit more before worrying employees about something that may not have happened? Or are they concerned that if something did happen, their employees would be upset that they weren’t notified as soon as the district had any suspicion?
