Alecks Devic reports:
The radio station at the centre of the royal hoax call scandal could face legal repercussions, including legal action from the Duchess of Cambridge over the broadcasting of her private medical details.
Legal experts say the prank call was a clear breach of several laws, including those concerning listening and surveillance devices, misleading and deceptive conduct, and the sharing of confidential information.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has held talks with 2Day FM, and the Sydney station has launched its own internal inquiry.
A spokeswoman for the broadcasting watchdog said it had received several complaints, including some from overseas.
She said ACMA was “engaging with the station” but no investigation had yet been launched.
