Anthem’s free services for breach victims available from AllClear ID

Posted on February 13, 2015 by Dissent

Anthem has now posted information on how to enroll for the free services it is providing to those affected by its recently disclosed breach:

Anthem is working with AllClear ID, a leading and trusted identity protection provider, to offer 24 months of identity theft repair and credit monitoring services to current or former members of an affected Anthem plan or other independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans dating back to 2004.

AllClear ID is ready and standing by to assist you if you need identity repair assistance. This service is automatically available to you with no enrollment required. If a problem arises, simply call 877-263-7995 and a dedicated investigator will do the work to recover financial losses, restore your credit, and make sure your identity is returned to its proper condition. Call centers are open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET.

My husband (now deceased) and I were former Federal Blue Cross/Blue Shield members. His name – [Redacted by DataBreaches.net]. I am interested in free identity-theft protection after breach. We most likely go back to the 2004 timeframe. Thank you for your early response as to what my next step is to protect myself.,

For starters, don’t give out your personal information on the Internet. I’ve redacted your last name and your husband’s name from your submitted comment.

If you go to http://www.anthemfacts.com it will tell you that you are already enrolled in AllClear ID and how to contact them if you experience any difficulties.

If you wish to take additional precautions, see my comments here: http://www.databreaches.net/fbi-alerts-cics-employment-services-that-personal-info-may-have-been-compromised/comment-page-1/#comment-52847 but keep in mind that that commenter had already experienced some fraud from another (non-Anthem) breach.
