New Mexico State Police are still trying to understand how a man charged with multiple counts of identity theft and unauthorized use of an ATM card got the banking information of 35 people to withdraw thousands of dollars fraudulently.
Investigators arrested Chris Garcia and James Rogers at the end of September and charged the two in an elaborate debit card theft scheme.
Rogers’ charges were later dismissed.
Investigators said that Garcia somehow obtained the banking information of 35 Nusenda Credit Union members.
