Melynda Schauer reports on a case of an identity thief posing as a customer service representative to steal others’ identity information. A tad wild:
Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man charged with identity theft who claimed to use his job as a customer service representative to obtain data he needs for his “actual career.”
Tony Michael Canterberry, 32, of Birmingham, has been charged with four counts of identity theft in the case.
On March 19, a man in another state called the sheriff’s office to say he received “direct threats to steal his identity” from someone in Jefferson County. The victim gave the sheriff’s office copies of correspondence between himself and Canterberry.
