The Central Platte Natural Resources District’s computer system was hacked by Russians about three weeks ago at a time when the big concern was a possible digital intrusion in the presidential election.
At Thursday’s CPNRD board meeting in Grand Island, General Manager Lyndon Vogt said it’s not believed the hackers got into the system’s QuickBooks data that lists names, addresses and Social Security numbers of people served by the NRD.
That database also includes employee information. A firm has been hired to do a forensic analysis of exactly what the intruders accessed.
