Google: Our hunt for hackers reveals phishing is far deadlier than data breaches

Posted on November 10, 2017 by Dissent

Liam Tung reports:

Google has released the results of a year-long investigation into Gmail account hijacking, which finds that phishing is far riskier for users than data breaches, because of the additional information phishers collect.

Hardly a week goes by without a new data breach being discovered, exposing victims to account hijacking if they used the same username and password on multiple online accounts.

While data breaches are bad news for internet users, Google’s study finds that phishing is a much more dangerous threat to its users in terms of account hijacking.

There have been numerous articles on gmail v protonmail, and which email account is the most secure for the past 6 weeks.

Here is one of the articles. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/gmail-vs-protonmail/

Most of the articles are strongly supporting Gmail over Protonmail on being more secure.

    This is a DUH! moment.
And there are ways around this, Esp if you do a few things..
    1. NEVER OPEN HTML/PPS/other files INTO THE BROWSER..ONLY TXT/RTxt formats..
    2. no external links that are NOT to a primary location.. Google.com is fine, ???/???/ google .com IS NOT..
    3. Google has a DNS listing of MOST of the internet..Why not compare it?
    4. There are more designations BEYOND SPAM/EMAIL…There is Sites to be listed as RISKY/DONT CLICK unless you know who it is..

Iv even complained to FB, about a few friends Emails DIRECT to me…(they have my email) and they have My FB name in them, not the Name they know me by..as well as 1 dead relative..
