‘Professional’ hack on Norwegian health authority compromises data of three million patients

Hackers have breached the systems of Norway’s Health South East RHF, with nearly three million patients’ data potentially compromised as a result.

Health South-East is responsible for the counties of Østfold, Akershus, Oslo, Hedmark, Oppland, Buskerud, Vestfold, Telemark, Aust-Agder and Vest-Agder.

The breach was announced on Monday by the authority after it had been notified by HelseCERT, the Norwegian healthcare sector’s national information security centre, that there had been abnormal activity against computer systems in the region.

Det er avdekket innbrudd i datasystemer og trusselaktøren er en avansert og profesjonell aktør.Sykehuspartner HF og Helse Sør-Øst RHF ser svært alvorlig på situasjonen, og innbruddet er meldt til politiet. Både Helse Sør-Øst RHF og Sykehuspartner HF er i beredskap.
