Yagnesh Bharat Mehta reports that there have been two more arrests in a case previously noted on this site. The case involves the theft of biometric data for illegally acquiring food grains meant for registered beneficiaries of the the National Food Security Act.
It’s really not clear (to me or law enforcement, it seems) how the thefts occurred and whether this is all part of a much larger ring:
Police investigation revealed that Rahul and Krunal had developed the software with help of Mayur Sharma and it contained the stolen biometric thumb impression data of registered beneficiaries of NFSA.
This software was later sold to Babulal Chhogaji Boriwal (53) and Sampatlal Rodilal Shah (61), two fair price shop (FPS) owners of Udhna. They had been arrested on Friday last.
