Richard Spillett reports:
This is the moment computer hacker dubbed ‘Courvoisier’ was arrested for carrying out cyber attacks on some of Britain’s top companies before selling customers’ data on the dark web.
Police seized £500,000 in Bitcoin from Grant West after discovering he had obtained the personal data of millions of people and the credit cards details of more than 60,000 people.
With the help of his girlfriend Rachael Bookes he carried out cyber attacks on companies including Sainsbury’s, Asda, Uber, Argos and bookmakers Ladbrokes and Coral.
The two already confessed (West confessed back in December). West’s girlfriend was given a two year community order and curfew when she was sentenced this week. West has yet to be sentenced.
The capture of “Courvoisier” certainly cleared up a lot of open crimes:
Police believe he hacked around 500 companies – including Sainsbury’s, Nectar, Groupon, AO.com, Ladbrokes, Coral Betting, Uber, Vitality, RS Feva Class Association 2017, Asda, the British Cardiovascular Society, Mighty Deals Limited, Truly Experiences Ltd, T Mobile, M R Porter, the Finnish Bitcoin exchange, and Argos.
You can see the CCTV footage of law enforcement nabbing him on Daily Mail.
