The City of Shafter has announced its IT system has been compromised by ransomware. An Instagram post says the city’s IT system appears to be frozen and locked.
According to the city, it is not believed that any personal information has been obtained.

And don’t get your hopes because “It is not believed” — it’s often the case that preliminary investigations produce negative results because the threat actors are good at covering their tracks on access and exfiltration. In time, we may see a ransomware group claim this one on their leak site. So far, none of the groups that maintain dedicated leak sites have listed it.
