Israel-linked group claims cyberattack that shuts down 70% of Iran’s gas stations

Posted on December 18, 2023 by Dissent

Times of Israel staff and Agencies report:

A hacking group that has previously been linked to Israel claimed on Monday to have paralyzed gas stations across Iran in a cyberattack.

The group known as “Gonjeshke Darande,” or “predatory sparrow,” said that it had disabled “a majority of the gas pumps throughout Iran.”

“This cyberattack comes in response to the aggression of the Islamic Republic and its proxies in the region,” the group said in statements in Persian and English.

Several weeks ago, Iran and the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah launched a cyberattack against Israel’s Ziv Medical Center in Safed. As AllIsraelNews reports this week, “A joint investigation by the National Cyber Directorate, the IDF, and the Shin Bet found that AGRIUS, a hacker group affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence, tried to hack into the hospital’s servers and interrupt its operations amid the ongoing war.”

Was the attack on Iran’s gas stations in response to that, in part? It wouldn’t be surprising if it was.
