JC Penney Co Inc was one of the victims of notorious computer hacker Albert Gonzalez, according to unsealed documents made available on Monday by a federal judge in Boston.

The firm’s identity had been revealed by Evan Schuman of StorefrontBacktalk last August, but it is nice to see the confirmation and that at least one prosecutor and judge do not believe that merchants should be allowed to not disclose a security breach of their information systems — yes, even if no card data were stolen.
