The Associated Press is reporting that the University of West Georgia has notified nearly 1,300 students and faculty that their personal information was on a laptop that was stolen last summer.
The laptop, which contained names, addresses, phone numbers and Social Security numbers, was in possession of a professor. The university says that it only now became aware that sensitive information was on the laptop. There was no explanation as to why a professor would have other faculty members’ social security numbers on a laptop.
