Fox30 reports from Jacksonville, Florida:
A confidential document containing the social security numbers of every city employee hired after 2005, was found on an internal website.
A city worker found the document and forwarded it on public officials.
According to a letter sent to city council members, the employee was placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation into the accessing and distribution of confidential employee information, “on the advice of counsel and as is standard procedure in these instances.”
The employee who originally posted the document in the Employee Services file was also placed on paid administrative leave, according to the same letter sent to city council members.
The document was created in June 2012.
The city says the information was never available on the external website and the file has since been removed.
The letter to city council members details what steps the city has taken and is taking to investigate the incident.
