The parent company and private equity owner of U.S. Investigations Services LLC is being asked by a congressional committee to turn over a laundry list of information about the security of USIS’s computer networks.
The Nov. 12 letter from U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, ranking member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, was sent to top executives at Providence Equity Partners LLC and Altegrity Inc., in an attempt to gather information about an August cybersecurity breach of USIS computer systems. It was sent after refusals from USIS to provide answers to questions about the breach, which exposed personal information of at least 27,000 federal employees in the process of applying for security clearances, Cummings wrote.
