A former police officer convicted of racketeering last year was sentenced Friday to a minimum of two years and six months, and up to 20 years in prison Friday, according to Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette.
Tamboura Jackson, 41, of Clinton Township, was suspended and later resigned from the Detroit Police Department after being accused in 2013 of filing false police reports in a scheme to improve credit scores.

Prosecutors said Jackson in 2009 began filing false reports of identity theft so that his co-defendant Lisa Curtis, 35, of Macomb Township, could improve credit scores for clients of her Waterford-based company Bright Star Consulting.
