College of Eastern Idaho (“CEI”), formerly Eastern Idaho Technical College, recently discovered an incident that may affect the security of your personal information. We write to provide you with information about the incident, steps we are taking in response, and steps you can take to better protect against the possibility of identity theft and fraud, should you feel it is appropriate to do so.
What Happened? On or about September 5, 2018, CEI identified suspicious email activity within an employee’s email account. Upon learning of this suspicious email activity, CEI promptly launched an internal investigation with the assistance of third-party forensic investigators. Through this investigation, on or about October 11, 2018, CEI confirmed there was unauthorized access to four employee email accounts between July 14, 2018 and September 12, 2018.
