NetWalker ransomware affiliate sentenced to 80 months in prison

Posted on February 8, 2022 by Dissent

Sergiu Gatlan reports an update to the prosecution of a Canadian NetWalker affiliate.  The NetWalker site was seized in January, 2021, and at the same time, the U.S. announced the indictment of Vachon-Desjardins. Although they sought his extradition to the U.S., it appears that he pleaded guilty in Canada to charges stemming from crimes involving Canadian citizens.

Sebastien Vachon-Desjardins, a Canadian man charged by the US for his involvement in NetWalker ransomware attacks, was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison after pleading guilty before an Ontario judge to multiple offenses linked to attacks on 17 Canadian victims.
