PHILADELPHIA, March 8, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — PEI-Genesis, Inc. (“PEI-Genesis”) recently announced an event that may have impacted the privacy of personal information relating to certain individuals and businesses. While PEI-Genesis is unaware of any attempted or actual misuse of personal information in relation to the event, PEI-Genesis provided potentially affected individuals with notice, information about the event and steps individuals could take to help protect their personal information.
On July 3, 2020, PEI-Genesis became aware of suspicious activity in an employee’s email account. PEI-Genesis immediately changed the employee’s email account credentials and began an investigation into the incident. As part of the investigation, which was conducted with the assistance of third-party forensic specialists, PEI-Genesis determined that the employee’s email account was subject to unauthorized access from June 23, 2020 to July 2, 2020. Through the review, on December 29, 2020 PEI-Genesis determined what information was at risk and to whom the information related. Although there is no evidence that this information was viewed by an unauthorized individual, PEI-Genesis is providing notice in an abundance of caution.
PEI-Genesis’s investigation determined the information that was potentially subject to unauthorized access varied by individual but included individuals’ name, date of birth, Social Security number, driver’s license number, passport number, financial account information, payment card information, username and password, health insurance information and/or medical treatment/diagnosis information.
