The Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) has apologised to a Westport woman for requesting her medical files without her consent.
But Jessica Adamson, 66, is still waiting for the West Coast District Health Board (WCDHB) to explain why it gave her files to ACC without asking or telling her.
Mrs Adamson is fighting ACC for compensation after contracting hepatitis C in a blood transfusion during a heart bypass operation in 1987.
ACC faxed Buller Medical Service in January this year, seeking her medical and clinical notes from 1986 to 1995. It quoted a 12-year-old claim form as authorisation.
Buller Medical not only supplied the notes requested, it faxed ACC another 12 years of files up to the end of last year.
