In the justice system:

  • Three Romanians have been arrested in Malta in connection with police investigations of credit card fraud amounting to thousands of euro. Some 60 credit cards, a false passport, computers and equipment used to produce false credit cards were seized from a house in Msida. More.
  • Four men from Florida were indicted for conspiracy to produce and use counterfeit access devices, production and use of counterfeit access devices, and aggravated identity theft. The indictment alleges that they obtained more than 200 stolen credit and debit account numbers and used the information to produce counterfeit credit cards, debit cards, and gift cards, which they then used at various retail stores.   • Frederick Eugene Wood has been charged with wire fraud, unauthorized access to a computer and aggravated identity theft for using peer-to-peer software to hack into other people’s computers and steal personal information. More.
  • Former customer service representative Regina Sancho pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $300,000 from Genworth Financial customer accounts in 2007. More.
