The Home Office has launched an “urgent investigation” after two brothers found thousands of scraps of passports, chequebooks and prescription pads in a punchbag [Note: in the U.S., punching bag].
Simon and Richard Coe discovered personal data, including signatures and photos, torn up into thousands of small pieces.
Much of the personal information contained in the documents was still intact.
The pair had opened the punchbag – a Christmas present given to them two years ago – to repair it after the stuffing became too hard.
