TN: Medical Records, Waste Dumped In Mansion

Posted on April 7, 2010 by Dissent

Jeremy Finley reports:

State health officials and emergency management officials are trying to determine who dumped piles of medical records and waste in an abandoned Springfield mansion.

[…]

There are rooms filled with medical records, boxes and boxes of the most private of information, all laying alongside the medical waste, discarded like trash.

It’s also an identity thief’s goldmine. In one record alone, the I-Team found the patient’s Social Security number, medical history, birth date and their family’s information.

The records come from several different medical centers and doctor’s offices. Many of the boxes are marked with the Millbrook Medical Center, a Springfield facility no longer in business.

There were several medical records from the Radnor Medical Group on Edmonson Pike. It’s unclear if Radnor even knew the records were there. Calls to that group were not returned by deadline.

County records show the property is owned by a corporation, but the status of that company is unclear.
