Auburn Police assisted the Millbury Police Department in the arrest of two women from Connecticut on Tuesday, May 24, currently under investigation for identity theft. According to Auburn Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lourie, the two women were taken into custody after they acquired several credit card account applications at Toys-R-Us and Macy’s Department Store in Auburn. The women charged approximately $2,000 in purchases in the victim’s name.

According to Sgt. Lourie, the victim’s identity and information was stolen through an employee work database. In addition to the Millbury and Auburn Police departments, the multi-jurisdictional investigation involves the Connecticut State Police, Burlington Police Department, and the United States Secret Service. Charges are forthcoming.
