The Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System recently notified 518 veterans that sensitive personal information was not properly safeguarded.
Veterans were informed that an appointment book listing their last names and last four digits of their Social Security numbers was discovered missing on July 14 and has not been found.
“Our top priority is to ensure our veterans’ sensitive personal information is safe and confidential,” said Michael E. Hamilton, Illiana System director. “It is our practice, out of the highest level of precaution, to alert veterans of any potential issues by sending a letter informing them of the situation.”
