Employees’ personal information compromised in Las Vegas Sands hacking (Updated)

Christopher Palmeri reports:

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS), the world’s largest casino operator, was attacked by hackers who defaced at least one company website and posted personal information about employees.

The unidentified intruders temporarily took over the home page of the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, posting statements criticizing Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sheldon Adelson, a staunch supporter of Israel, over comments he made about Iran and its nuclear program.

The Morning Call in Pennsylvania reports that employee information, including names, email addresses, job titles, and Social Security numbers, was seen scrolling on the web site, but it’s not clear how many of the firm’s 50,000 employees had their details exposed, how much data the hacktivists, who identify themselves as the “Anti WMD Team,”  may have acquired or how much data others may have now acquired.

Update: Associated Press reports:

 A Nevada gambling regulator says the hackers who knocked down all Las Vegas Sands websites for two days and counting did not steal any patron data, including credit card information.
