Thieves Use Skimmers on ATMs in Four NYC Hospitals

Posted on November 24, 2016 by Dissent

Ben Fractenberg reports:

Scammers placed skimming devices on ATMs in four hospitals in the city from Aug. 1 through Nov. 1, and then made duplicate cards to steal $46,000 from at least 75 people, according to the NYPD and sources.

Police are looking to speak with Atanasiu Bogdan-Valentin, 36, and an unidentified man in connection with the robberies. The robbers used a false panel and pinhole camera to read victims’ debit and credit card numbers, sources said.

The skimmers were placed in Memorial Sloan Kettering in the Upper East Side, New York Presbyterian Hospital on East 68th Street, New York Methodist Hospital in Park Slope and Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, according to the NYPD.
