WA: Hospital still mum on ransomware attack

Posted on July 25, 2019 by Dissent

Springhill Medical Center isn’t the only hospital not revealing a lot about a ransomware attack. Doug Barker reports that Grays Harbor Community Hospital officials are keeping mum, too, allegedly based on advice they received. But they noted:

“Nothing has changed in terms of patient care,” Bruce said. “We’re still seeing patients, surgeries are still going on and we’re still delivering babies.”

The problems may have begun mid-June, which would be a long time for this to be going on and for the hospital to keep quiet about whether patient data had been locked up and/or possibly corrupted or deleted.
