Scenes from a “No Kings” Protest, 10-18-25

Posted on October 18, 2025October 18, 2025 by Dissent

The following are just a few of the pictures I took today at a “No Kings” protest held in Nassau County, New York. It was a peaceful protest. There was a larger-than-expected turnout, with minimal and respectful police presence. As I anticipated in my post explaining why I was going, there were a lot of senior citizens there.

But take a look at what Speaker Johnson and others try to label “Antifa,” “Socialist,” “Communist,” “Terrorists” who hate America. I guess singing, “This Land is Your Land” is proof positive of hatred for America, right? (For the benefit of readers who are autistic, that was sarcasm).  Most of the signs we saw today were handmade, but the pictures below represent a mix of handmade and what looked commercially printed:

An older woman holds a handmade sign saying "NO KINGS SINCE 1776"
This woman is 95 years old. This is what Speaker Johnson calls a “terrorist who hates America?!”

Profile picture of NY Lieiutenant Governor Antonio Delgado talking to a smiling older woman.
NY Lieutenant Governor engaged with a smiling older constituent who Republicans would have us believe is a  “terrorist” who hates America?
An older woman wearing a yellow scarf holds a sign that says, "We the People DO NOT CONSENT" A man holds two signs from the NYCLU. One yellow one says, "IMMIGRANTS BELONG HERE." The other has rainbow colors and says, "DISARM HATE."
A woman holds a handmade sign that says, "We Love America. It's Trump We Hate." A woman holds a handmade sign that says, "ILLEGALLY DETAINING WITH OUT DUE PROCESS -- THIS IS FASCISM"
A woman holds up a sign with an image of the Statue of Liberty. The text reads, "Over a million men and women have died defending our democracy. Are we going to let one man destroy it? A handmade sign with a picture of a solder in WWII labeled "My father --"ANTIFA," 1944" To the right it says, "HE FOUGHT FASCISTS IN EUROPE -- WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO IT HERE!"
A sign on a yellow background saying, "WHEN TYRANNY BECOMES LAW, REBELLION BECOMES DUTY" A sign on a black background says, "STOP DOING FASCIST SH*T"
A librarian holds up a handmade sign that says, "Librarians against Tyranny. Shhh... Was never meant to silence Truth!!" A smiling woman holds a handmade sign saying, "The POWER of the PEOPLE is STRONGER than the People in Power." A hand-drawn "No Kings" symbol is on the bottome corner.
