Two Philadelphia men, including an employee of a health insurance company, were charged today with stealing the identities of 86 people in a scheme that netted them nearly $290,000, federal authorities said.
An indictment alleges that Kenneth C. Osbourne, Jr., 35, used his position as a customer service representative at AmeriHealth Administrators, Inc. to access customers’ personal information, including names, dates of birth, social security numbers and bank account numbers.
Then, Osbourne allegedly passed the information along to codefendant, Sheldon Hylton.

In the latest case, authorities contend two Philadelphia men – Kenneth C. Osbourne Jr, 35, and Sheldon Hylton, 22 – took part in an identity-theft scheme that targeted more than 80 customers of a health-benefits firm.
Authorities said Osbourne, a customer service representative at AmeriHealth Administrators Inc. in Fort Washington, Pa., stole customers’ personal information. He allegedly passed the data in texts to Hylton, who obtained counterfeit checks printed with the names, addresses and account numbers of TD Bank customers.
