Angela Hall reports in the Leader-Post:
Even the old office fax machine can pose a security breach, Saskatchewan’s information and privacy commissioner warned Monday.
Gary Dickson’s office was recently handed a roll of thermal film from a fax machine that had been sold by public auction to someone in Prince Albert, likely in late 2004.
The thermal film, when held up to the light, revealed personal health information of about 100 people, bearing dates from July to September 2003.
“There was information about diagnostic tests for individuals and that kind of thing,” Dickson said in an interview Monday. “It was certainly more sensitive, more prejudicial than simply names and address or health numbers.”
