A cyberattack at Dixons Carphone Plc affected almost 6 million payment cards as hackers sought access to customers’ personal data in another challenge for new Chief Executive Officer Alex Baldock.
The retailer, already struggling with a slowing mobile phone market in the U.K. and the rise of Amazon.com Inc., said 1.2 million records containing nonfinancial information such as names, addresses and emails, were breached. There’s no evidence of any fraudulent use of the data at this stage, the company said.

The Information Commissioner’s Office issued the following statement:
“An incident involving Dixons Carphone has been reported to us and we are liaising with the National Cyber Security Centre, the Financial Conduct Authority and other relevant agencies to ascertain the details and impact on customers.
“Anyone concerned about lost data and how it may be used should follow the advice of Action Fraud.”
