TotalBank Data Breach Could Be Comprehensive

Posted on July 16, 2014 by Dissent

Jeanne Price reports:

Customers of TotalBank in southern Florida can expect an unwelcome letter in the mail following a compromise of the institution’s computer network. So far, details of the data breach are sketchy but the intrusion into their system appears extensive.

“We recently discovered that an unauthorized individual obtained access to our computer network. Based on that discovery we engaged outside data forensic experts to conduct an investigation. On June 24, 2014, we learned that unauthorized individuals may have obtained access to your personal information which includes your name, address, account number, account balance, and personal identification number (for example, social security number, driver’s license number, passport number, alien registration number),” said a letter signed by President and CEO Luis de la Aguilera.
