AlphV claims to have hit MNGI Digestive Health — developing

Posted on September 25, 2023 by Dissent

MNGI Digestive Health (MNGI) in Minnesota is a physician-owned multi-center gastroenterology practice that has been recognized for its excellence. MNGI was previously known as Minnesota Gastroenterology, P.A., and was created by partnership of three independent practices: Digestive Healthcare, Gastroenterology Consultants, and St. Paul Gastroenterology.

Unfortunately, excellence in medical practice and care does not immunize a practice against cyberattacks, and it seems that MNGI has been hit by AlphV.

The listing, shown above, was added to AlphV’s site on September 24 with a note:

The company should contact us within the next 48 hours. After the expiration of time, all 2+TB of data will be AUTOMATICALLY published, patients will be massively notified about the leak and that you simply ignored this fact, which will give grounds for a class action lawsuit(we will provide all necessary information for it). In addition, all violations of storage of sensitive data in the company’s system will be published.

As proof of claim, they uploaded some images from diagnostic tests, but without legible corresponding patient IDs or details.

DataBreaches sent MNGI a contact form inquiry earlier to ask them if they could confirm or refute AlphV’s claims and to request additional details if they were attacked. No reply has been received yet.

This post will be updated when more information becomes available.
